Jennifer Garner Shares This Similar Outlook as Jennifer Lopez When It Comes to Ben Affleck
There’s no one rooting harder for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s marriage to work out than Jennifer Garner. When the dynamic duo decided to take a stab at their relationship again in 2021 — aka Bennifer 2.0 — they needed the buy-in from the Yes Day star. Her support, especially on the co-parenting front, has really helped them blend their families.
Garner also has another reason for welcoming Lopez into her family — and it’s a serious one. The 52-year-old actress “wants the best for” her ex-husband because having a “happy and healthy” Affleck is the best situation for their three children, Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12, according to People. She weathered some tough times during the height of his addiction to alcohol, so having Lopez around to encourage “a healthy lifestyle” to “support Ben’s sobriety” is helpful. The source added, “Jen wants that for Ben.”

While many fans thought that Garner would be resistant to Affleck dating Lopez again, she’s been on board from the beginning. In 2022, a close pal revealed to Hollywood Life, “This relationship has been very stabilizing for him, and that’s a huge weight off Jen’s shoulders because she doesn’t have to worry about Ben anymore.” Garner had happily moved on with John Miller by then, so not having to side-eye every move her ex made was of great comfort to her. “It’s a relief to her that he’s chosen a partner that’s a totally positive influence with great family values,” they added.
Ahead of their divorce in 2018, it was Garner who took the responsibility of driving Affleck to rehab. Images of the couple proved how stressful the situation was — Garner was “visibly shaken,” per E! News, after he asked his ex-wife to help him. “He told Jen and was not resistant,” the source shared. “He asked her to take him, and she wanted to be there for him.” That trip to a Malibu rehab is what set him on a better course for his health and his path back to Lopez.
However, recovery often isn’t linear, and it’s understandable why Garner is concerned about Lopez and Affleck’s marital troubles — nobody wants to see the Oscar winner fall off the wagon. Let’s hope Affleck has the support he needs during a time that’s not only challenging, but also very public.
