Jennifer Hudson Pays Tribute to Whitney Houston With ‘Queen of the Night’ Halloween Costume

Jennifer Hudson is paying tribute to the “Queen of the Night” — the late Whitney Houston. On “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” the talk show host and musician modeled a meticulous recreation of the outfit Houston wears in the movie “The Bodyguard” as she performs the hit rock song.
The famous outfit consists of a fitted top with a diamond cutout and a structured metallic bust; the skirt is made of swishy strands of silver beads while layers of large metallic orbs create a Cleopatra-esque necklace feature. The ensemble also includes a headpiece, above-the-elbow gloves with metallic embellishments and an extra layer of silver fabric hanging from the skirt.
Essential to a Whitney Houston “Queen of the Night” costume is a pair of black thigh-high boots, which Jennifer Hudson modeled on her show. The memorable shoes are even featured on the movie poster, which shows Kevin Costner’s character rescuing Houston’s Rachel Marron after her concert becomes dangerous.
Hudson’s boots feature a pointed toe and a tall heel in back lifting the pair up. Like Houston’s pair, Hudson’s shoes also feature a slouchy design, with slight folds throughout the shaft. The shoes fit in with the overall aura of the ensemble, which evokes edgy pop star vibes.
Black thigh-high boots can be found from a range of brands, including Versace and Giuseppe Zanotti. Nordstom carries options from several companies including Schutz and Nine West.
On her Halloween episode, Hudson welcomed Janelle Monae as a guest, who was unrecognizable in an E.T. costume. Lance Bass, dressed in an aviator costume, appeared on the show as well.
Hudson recently showed off a different black boot on her show, a $35 heeled ankle boot made with vegan leather; the pair comes from Journee Collection. She wore them while interviewing her boyfriend, Common.
