Jennifer Lawrence speaks out about fire that destroyed her family barn
Jennifer Lawrence is speaking out about the weekend fire at her family farm, which also serves as a summer camp, run by her brother.
"I want to thank my Louisville community for reaching out to my family and me following the devastating fire that sadly destroyed a significant part of Camp Hi Ho," the Kentucky native, 30, said in a statement obtained by People magazine.
The Oscar winner continued, "Thankfully, because of our amazing firefighters and first responders, no one was hurt and all of the animals were kept safe. I grew up on that farm, going to Camp Hi Ho every summer. When my brother Blaine took it over, he applied his creative mind and fun loving spirit and expanded a camp that was already the coolest, because it was the only place where kids could do whatever they wanted. A muddy messy paradise.”

Lawrence ended by saying, "I’m grateful to Camp Hi Ho for the amazing childhood memories. My family and I are working together to help Blaine through this. And we are so grateful for the widespread support from the community to get Camp Hi Ho back up and running so we can welcome kids back this summer."
The camp shared the news of the fire on Saturday. The blaze took place in the barn and, as Lawrence noticed, there were no injuries to humans or animals.
Blaine said in a letter to families that the structure housed his office, horse stalls, an indoor riding area for kids, an indoor rock wall, a nurse station and an arts and crafts area, among other things.
He asked for community donations via a GoFundMe fundraiser as well as for families to return to the camp in Summer 2021, promising it will be rebuilt by then.
The fire is being investigated by the Simpsonville Fire and Rescue, as well as the Kentucky State Fire Marshal.
Lawrence has been shooting Don’t Look Up with Leonardo DiCaprio in Boston.
