Jennifer Lopez on 'full-circle' Ben Affleck wedding: 'The weight of the past finally lifted'
Thought you'd finally heard the last of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's wedding extravaganza? Think again.
The singer-actress-dancer shared even more details of her and the "Deep Water" star's "divinely full-circle" nuptials in Thursday's edition of her newsletter "On the JLo." The couple first tied the knot in an intimate Las Vegas chapel wedding in July, before throwing a star-studded second wedding at Affleck's Georgia estate a month later.
In addition to sharing images from the second ceremony's rehearsal dinner, reception and morning after, which included a lakeside brunch, Lopez also revealed the inspiration behind the couple's "perfect wedding love song," Marc Cohn's "True Companion."
According to Lopez, she and Affleck first discussed the song at Affleck's estate more than 20 years ago. The couple first became engaged in 2002 before rekindling their romance in 2021.
Lopez said she surprised Affleck by having Cohn sing the song at the second ceremony.
"The twenty years between those dreams of youth and the adult world of love and family we embraced that day, brought more to this marriage than either of us ever could have imagined," Lopez wrote. "As the eldest of our children finished her walk, Marc began 'True Companion,' a song we first listened to together what seemed both like yesterday and forever ago — and life came, strangely, beautifully, mysteriously, divinely full-circle."
According to Lopez, the couple's children were "the only people we asked to stand up for us in our wedding party." Lopez shares twins Emme and Maximilian Mu?iz, 14, with ex-husband Marc Anthony, and Affleck shares Violet, 14, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

The second ceremony was "not at all the way we planned," but even better, Lopez added.
"Some old wounds were healed that day and the weight of the past finally lifted off our shoulders," she wrote. "Nothing ever felt more right to me."
Lopez capped off her newsletter noting the second ceremony's "vibes were down-home, rustic country-chic," and that she'll answer more questions later.
In the meantime, "we find ourselves in that long-desired time of life: having gratitude for all that life has shown us, even its trials and tribulations," she wrote. "That night really was heaven..."

The venue of the couple's second wedding has come under scrutiny, with people criticizing them for marrying at Affleck's "plantation-style" compound outside Savannah.
Affleck's estate isn't actually a plantation home, despite its location history and Greek revival design, which is often associated with plantation homes.
Facing the North Newport River, Affleck's estate sits on Hampton Island, which served as land for rice and cotton plantations, according to an overview of the property. In 2018, the Wall Street Journal described the residence as a "plantation-style compound" and interviewed listing agent Dicky Mopper for details of the property valued at $8.9 million dollars when Affleck put it on the market.
