Jennifer Lopez posts song about being ‘single’ amid Ben Affleck split rumors
Is Jennifer Lopez sending a message about the state of her love life?
The singer, 54, posted a clip from her 2021 music video for “Cambia el Paso” — a song about embracing change and being “single” — as her marriage to Ben Affleck appears to be on the rocks.
Lopez shared the video to her Instagram on Sunday to celebrate three years since the song came out.
The “Hustlers” star dances on the beach in a silver bikini and denim shorts in part of the video.
“Happy Anniversary Cambia El Paso …” she wrote in her caption.
Lopez sang and co-wrote the track with Rauw Alejandro. It originally came out a few months after her engagement to Alex Rodriguez ended.
The lyrics, translated from Spanish to English, in part read: “Her life is better now without him/ She knows that her hips don’t fail her/ She doesn’t need anyone to be well/ She doesn’t fail, she doesn’t fail.”
“She’s staying single/ Now she makes love to whoever she wants,” the lyrics also say.
Lopez talked about the meaning behind the song in an interview with SiriusXM in July 2021.
“The song is about change and not being afraid to take the step,” she said. “Like, just take the step, advance, do what you need to do.”
She continued: “If something’s not feeling right, whatever it is in your life, like, just make that move and dance.”
Lopez resurfaced the music video after she celebrated the Fourth of July in the Hamptons without Affleck, 51.
The couple — who tied the knot in 2022 after their shocking reconciliation — have reportedly been apart since March.
The divorce rumors began in early May, when Lopez attended the 2024 Met Gala without her husband. Soon after, Affleck was reported to be staying at a separate house from Lopez — and then it was reported that they listed their $60 million Beverly Hills marital home for sale.
“If there was a way to divorce on grounds of temporary insanity, he would,” a Page Six source said about Affleck in May.
The insider added, “He feels like the last two years was just a fever dream, and he’s come to his senses now and understands there is just no way this is going to work.”
The stars have spent their summer mostly apart, with Lopez traveling to Italy and France without the “Argo” director-actor, who stayed home in Los Angeles.
A source told People that Lopez — who canceled her world tour amid the marital woes — was “grateful” for time to herself, and that she and Affleck are “doing their own thing so far this summer.”
For the Fourth of July weekend, Lopez was spotted in New York City and then the Hamptons, where she went for a bike ride with her vocal coach Stevie Mackey. She had her wedding ring on in a photo that Mackey shared of the pair.
Affleck, meanwhile, sported his wedding band as he grabbed lunch with his 15-year-old Seraphina in LA on July 5. However, he ditched the ring when he got a bite to eat with 18-year-old Violet the week prior.
Lopez and Affleck have not publicly addressed the rumors about their marriage.
