Jennifer Lopez Reportedly Wants to Go 'Big' in This Aspect of Her Career Following Her Divorce
Like any major breakup or divorce, Jennifer Lopez is taking this new era following her divorce from Ben Affleck to focus on herself and her family. And while that will surely mean spending some family time with her twins Max and Emme, new reports show that she’s also laser-focused on a professional goal too: making a new album!
According to sources for Page Six, a new album is Lopez’s biggest goal moving forward. “They have reached out to songwriters,” the source said. “She wants a big dance hit.”

Of course, Lopez is no stranger to some major dance hits. After all, many of her songs like “On the Floor,” “Jenny From the Block” and “Let’s Get Loud” are still playing in bars and nightclubs all over the world today.
“Her priority [career-wise] is music,” the source added, suggesting that her acting career might be on the back burner for now. “There is no point of her going into it unless it’s big, and critics say it’s the old Lopez. She needs a big banger.”
“She wants to get hits, and put out a new album,” the source added.
Prior to the shift into music, Lopez had been focused on two new movies this year: Unstoppable and Kiss of the Spider Woman. While Unstoppable premiered in August at the Toronto International Film Festival (where she wore an incredible revenge dress), Kiss of the Spider Woman has reportedly finished filming and is in post-production. Notably, both movies are produced by Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company, Artists Equity.
As for her music career, Lopez released her last album, This Is Me…Now, in February. The album, which played off of her 2002 album This Is Me… Then, was all about her love story with Affleck.
“When I started making This Is Me… Now, what I told everybody in the studio was, ‘Hey, this amazing thing has happened to me and I want to let people who have been through this with me know,'” she told Rolling Stone at the time. “I figured this thing out and I want to share it,’”
Sadly, however, Lopez’s album didn’t land with listeners and received overall mixed reviews from critics. Now, Lopez is looking for some vindication.
“She has had an enormous amount of hits and can’t accept the last album is the end of her music career,” the source said. “She wants to wash away the stink of This is Me… Now.”
Whether it’s for revenge or not, we’re all for Lopez diving into music again. After all, who doesn’t long a good heartbreak song?
