Jennifer Lopez reveals that she keeps her iconic green Versace dress on a mannequin
Even 18 years after wearing it, Jennifer Lopez can’t part with that iconic green Versace dress.
And can you blame her? The low-cut number she wore to the 2000 Grammy Awards is routinely named one of the most iconic dresses ever to have hit the red carpet. It generated considerable buzz for both J.Lo and the fashion house behind the dress, and even prompted the creation of Google Images — yes, really.
Over the years, the dress has continued to fascinate. Lopez herself wore a version of it for one of her 2014 concerts. Just this month, Amber Valletta, the model who originally wore the dress for the catwalk in 1999, rocked an updated version of it at a Donatella Versace fashion show in New York City.
Lopez is a fan of the dress making a comeback.
“I love it,” she told USA Today.
But, she noted, she won’t be part of the resurgence.
“I did the whole Versace thing again. I think I’m done with that,” Lopez explained. “I wouldn’t rock it again on a red carpet. But it lives in my house. It’s on a little mannequin in my house.”
Lopez did allow the look to be part of a 2016 exhibit at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. But it’s back with her now.
On Wednesday, the singer and actress once again stole the show with her wardrobe — this time a billowing hot-pink gown by Giambattista Valli — at the premiere of her new movie, Second Act.
