Jennifer Lopez sells her NYC penthouse after 7 years for sale
Another chapter in the life of Jennifer Lopez has finally closed.
The star singer and actress, who seems to be splitting up with Ben Affleck, has sold her Madison Square Park penthouse in New York City — seven years after she first put it on the market — for $23 million, according to city property records.
The stately penthouse duplex, at 21 E. 26th St., is a spacious 6,540 square feet. It comes with four bedrooms, 6? baths and almost 3,000 square feet of outdoor space over four terraces on two levels, including a croquet pitch, a landscaped roof deck and a putting green.
It first asked $26.95 million in 2017, according to StreetEasy records, and it bounced on and off the market in the following years under two separate brokerages.
The ritzy residence is one floor above the unit where Chelsea Clinton and her family live. The residence went into contract in April, as Gimme Shelter reported exclusively. The closing — recorded on Monday — was first reported by the Real Deal.
The posh penthouse first hit the market for $26.95 million in 2017, three years after Lopez paid $20.1 million for it, as Gimme Shelter also reported exclusively at the time. It’s in a six-story, neo-Georgian building that features just four units. Past and present residents in the boutique condo also include four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon, and media mogul and TV personality Dan Abrams.
The building, which dates to 1924, features design details like 12-foot-6-inch-high ceilings and white oak floors.
The Lopez residence opens from a private keyed elevator into a great room with a skylight and a wall of Palladian-style windows.
French doors lead to a terrace overlooking the park. Views also feature the Flatiron Building and the MetLife Clock Tower.
The penthouse is also primed for entertaining. The public floor features an open chef’s kitchen with a breakfast bar, two wine fridges holding more than 100 bottles, and an additional dining area and lounge. This floor also comes with a guest wing of three bedrooms, with ensuite baths.
Upstairs, there’s a primary bedroom suite with two spa-like baths, a large dressing room with floor-to-ceiling closets and two private terraces. The floor also has a media room that opens to a terrace with multiple seating areas.
The listing brokers were Chris Pomeroy and Richard Orenstein of Brown Harris Stevens.
