Jennifer Lopez's Rekindled Friendship With This Longtime Pal Might Be Related to Ben Affleck Split
When Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck got married in 2022, there was a notable absence on the “Jenny From the Block” singer’s side. Where was her ride-or-die BFF Leah Remini? The dynamic duo has been through so much together, including the King of Queens star’s very public exit from the Church of Scientology, but it appears Affleck got between them.
In September 2023, it was RuPaul’s Drag Race star Michelle Visage, who spilled the tea on the Las Culturistas podcast that the two women had a falling out. While discussing the actresses’ co-starring turn in 2018’s Second Act, host Bowen Yang asked Visage, “[Leah] and J. Lo are best buds, right?” Visage made a face and then responded with the classic “No comment.”

Well, that seemed to confirm the rumors that Remini purposely skipped Lopez’s wedding due to her hesitations about a second chance at romance with Affleck. According to a Page Six source, Remini believed that the Oscar winner was “selfish and is not fully committed as a partner.” Lopez reportedly didn’t love her friend’s opinion and “cut off all ties.” The insider added, “J.Lo was so mad.” At the time, Remini told media outlets that she was busy getting her daughter ready for college and couldn’t attend the wedding festivities.
Well, in the wake of Lopez’s current situation with Affleck, it appears that there is a reconciliation in the works between her and Remini. “They were friends for years,” a pal close to Remini said last week. “She wants to reach out to her, but she can’t just call up and say, ‘I told you so.’” Now, the insider is reporting that the former So You Think You Can Dance judge reached out to Lopez to offer her support recently, and the 54-year-old superstar is receptive to ending the rift.
Lopez and Remini met in 2004 around the time she started dating Marc Anthony. Lopez raved about her in those days, “It was one of those instant chemistry things, where you just feel like, ‘I love this person. I love being around this person. This person makes me laugh.” Remini shared that same love, telling the host on The View, “We’re very close, like sisters… But in a different way that sisters are.” Let’s hope the women are open to healing their rift because Lopez needs her bestie during a difficult time like this.
