Jenny Slate Hits the Hot Tub With Some Dude-Bros in Exclusive Clip From 'Joshy'
The hot tub: America’s favorite place to gather after a few too many libations. It has a very special place in pop culture, too. It’s where James Brown (as channeled by Eddie Murphy) gathered celebrities on Saturday Night Live, where Tom Hanks bared his heiny in Charlie Wilson’s War, and how John Cusack and friends went back to the future in Hot Tub Time Machine.
The hot tub once again provides a perfect setting for debauchery in the new indie comedy Joshy, as you can see in the exclusive clip above.
In the scene, Jodi (Jenny Slate) has joined a houseful of drunken buddies (including Nick Kroll, Adam Pally, and Thomas Middleditch) for after-hours bubbles… and might be regretting it.
“Cool… fun… new… a surprise… tonight… the evening… I love it… strangers… scared… I’m really happy,” goes Jodi’s revealing stream of consciousness when asked by Eric (Kroll) how she feels about joining “The Greater Tub Community.”
Joshy follows the debaucherous deeds of Eric, Joshy (Middleditch), Ari (Adam Pally), Adam (Alex Ross Perry), and Greg (Brett Gelman), who follow through on the plans for a weekend bachelor party in the Southern California mountains, despite the fact that the titular would-be groom is no longer getting hitched.
The comedy, written and directed by Jeff Baena (Life After Beth), premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and opens in theaters and on VOD Aug. 12. Watch the trailer:
