After a whirlwind romance, Rupert Murdoch and Jerry Hall are officially married!
The high-profile couple, who have been dating since last summer, were married during a civil ceremony at Spencer House in London on Friday, a rep for Spencer House confirms to People. The civil ceremony comes ahead of their main wedding service at the historic Fleet Street’s St. Brides Church on Saturday.
The pair was spotted smiling outside Spencer House, with Hall, 59, wearing a white coat and Murdoch, 84, donning a blue suit.
After announcing their engagement in January, the couple have been busy planning their spring nuptials in London to incorporate both sets of children? and “will be very much a family event for both of them, as their sons and daughters will be fully involved, which is very nice,” Rev. Canon Dr. Alison Joyce, who will be leading the service, told People.
The couple, who were introduced by one of Murdoch’s sisters and his niece in Australia, have enjoyed a mostly private courtship. In October, the media tycoon and his model girlfriend were photographed at the Rugby World Cup final in Twickenham laughing and sharing a kiss. Most recently the couple attended Vanity Fair’s Oscar party, where they affectionately held hands on the red carpet.
Now that the official part is done, the newlyweds can focus on celebrating with their guest on Saturday morning, when up to 200 friends and family are expected to attend the high-profile London wedding. With traditional hymns, a choir and readings, “it will be a service of prayer and blessing at which they will give thanks for their marriage, and renew their marriage vows before God,” Canon Joyce told People.
