Jessica Simpson Boldly Shuts Down Critic Who Made Assumption About Her Drinking Again
If her recent social media posts are any indication, Jessica Simpson appears to be living her best life: Watching sister Ashlee Simpson perform, spending time in the studio, and bonding with her family. Unfortunately, some people seem determined to criticize the 44-year-old mom, nonetheless.
When Simpson shared a photo of her 11-year-old son, Ace, to Instagram on Monday, August 5, most of the comments were positive. Fans called the boy "cute," saying he looks "just like" his mother. But one commenter who goes by the handle @nunyabusiness1492 lashed out at the star for no apparent reason, writing, "STOP DRINKING!"
Simpson took it upon herself to shut down the troll right away.
"@nunyabusiness1492 I haven’t wanted or touched alcohol since October 2017 and it has been the best decision I’ve made for myself and for my family," wrote the singer. "Thank. You for your concern, but you have me very misunderstood. Sending love your way."
According to Page Six, @nunyabusiness1492 responded to Simpson with an apology, but the comment appears to have been deleted since.
Other commenters were quick to show their support.
"Don’t feel like you have to defend your actions to people like this. Your life is your business, no one else’s. Stay strong and true to yourself and your family!!" wrote one fan.
Last year, Simpson shared a vulnerable photo of herself at the height of her issues with alcohol to mark her sixth year being sober.
"This person in the early morning of Nov 1, 2017 is an unrecognizable version of myself," Simpson wrote. "I had so much self discovery to unlock and explore. I knew in this very moment I would allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity. Personally, to do this I needed to stop drinking alcohol because it kept my mind and heart circling in the same direction and quite honestly I was exhausted."
