Jessica Simpson’s ‘Lucky’ Tradition With Son Ace Is So Simple & Sweet

When it comes to good luck, Jessica Simpson has an ace up her sleeve: her son Ace! The fashion designer shared a super-sweet tradition she has with her 11-year-old, and it’s such a cute way to bond.

“I’m gonna be a braggin’ Mom for a moment and just say that I have the kindest, most handsome 11yr old son on the planet ????” Simpson, who shares Ace and daughters Maxwell, 12, and Birdie Mae, 5, with husband Eric Johnson, wrote on Instagram for her son’s birthday. She included a stunning black-and-white portrait of Ace relaxing with his head resting on his arms.

“Fun fact: we both find lucky pennies randomly every other week and use them to WIN my scratchers together ????,” she continued. “Mama loves you Ace Knute Johnson- OH SO VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!”

How sweet is that? Finding lucky pennies together and saving them to use on scratch-off tickets is such a simple and fun way to spend time together. And people love the simplicity of it. “The fact that you play scratchers has totally made my day,” one person wrote. “You play scratchers?! I freaking love that!” someone else said.

Ace’s mom Tina Simpson commented, “He’s worth braggin’ about! He’s the sweetest, funniest, most talented athlete with a big heart of love! Love you Ace!!! ??????”

The Open Book author doesn’t post pictures of her kids often, and when she does, she sometimes gets comments from trolls. Like on one Easter post, where Simpson’s kids were smiling in their festive pajamas with baskets full of chocolate and goodies. Sure, the presents were expensive (some wrapped in Dior boxes!), but that doesn’t mean it’s OK for comments like: “It looks like your children are happy, healthy and content. There’s no need to spoil them with material things. They just want you and your husband to see them and love them.” As if we don’t all enjoy giving our kids Easter baskets?

This picture of Ace also drew some backlash, with one person accusing the now-sober actress of drinking seemingly out of nowhere. “STOP DRINKING!” they wrote. Simpson responded, “I haven’t wanted or touched alcohol since October 2017 and it has been the best decision I’ve made for myself and for my family. Thank. You for your concern, but you have me very misunderstood. Sending love your way.”

Good for her standing up for herself with confidence and grace. What a great example for her kiddos!
