‘Jesus’ Gives Inspiring TED Talk on ‘Colbert’
At the TED Talks in Vancouver, British Columbia, Tuesday night, Pope Francis made a surprise appearance via video in which, among other things, he spoke about power and humility. On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, they had “Late Show Jesus” give a TED Talk relating stories from the Bible to everyday life. Not in a real Jesus sort of way — more in a Late Show kind of way.
First, “Late Show Jesus” addressed that pesky situation that we’re all familiar with in which we need to feed thousands of people but have only a couple of fish and a couple of loaves of bread.
“What if I told you that you could do it,” “Late Show Jesus” said. “Now, I know what you’re thinking, ‘Geez, me?’ No. Geez us, right?”
“Late Show Jesus” also introduced what he referred to as a pilot program, but it’s actually been around for quite a while: turning the other cheek.
And, of course, there seemingly can’t be a comedy bit involving Jesus on television without the old go-to of turning water into wine. “Late Show Jesus” took a drink of bottled water before turning it into wine.
At the end of his presentation, “Late Show Jesus” made sure to tell the audience he’d be in the lobby signing copies of his book, which was, of course, the Bible.
