Jim Carrey paints Jared Kushner as the devil, and the Church of Satan has something to say
You may have noticed Jim Carrey’s paintings getting some media attention this week — both good and bad publicity.
Conservatives ripped the actor after he released a portrait of a “so-called Christian.” Though the actor never revealed who inspired the painting, many thought it bore a striking resemblance to White House press secretary Sarah Sanders.
This is the portrait of a so-called Christian whose only purpose in life is to lie for the wicked. Monstrous! pic.twitter.com/MeYLTy1pqb

Then there was Carrey’s satirical portrait of the green-skinned “WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST WING,” who happens to be wearing a suit similar to those worn by President Trump. The cartoon even included “PUTIN’S FLYING MONKEYS.”

Carrey’s latest painting, however, has grabbed attention far beyond the White House and into the depth of Hell.

The actor’s artwork contains “666,” the devil’s number, which made some wonder whether Carrey was referencing the Church of Satan. He’s not. The organization made that very clear:
Attention everyone:
1. Yes we’ve seen this.
2. No, it has nothing to do with us.
3. 666 is a real and specific street address being reference in the artwork.
4. Jim Carrey is not now, nor has he ever been our high priest.
Thank you, that is all. https://t.co/RwevXURSBL— The Church Of Satan (@ChurchofSatan) March 23, 2018
It turns out the portrait was not referring to the devil, but rather portrays an actual street address in New York City: 666 Fifth Avenue is a 41-story office building in Manhattan owned by Jared Kushner. Twitter was quick to pick up on the reference and, unlike with his other paintings, critics largely appreciated Carrey’s latest piece of art.

For the record, Carrey did not respond to the Church of Satan denouncing him as their high priest.
