Jim Gaffigan Has Opened Up for Some Bizarre Acts
On Wednesday’s Conan, comedian Jim Gaffigan revealed that he opened for the pope. He said, “I should clarify: I didn’t open for the pope. I opened for the popemobile.” The pope was in the popemobile but, sadly, didn’t get out to do a tight five minutes of jokes.
Gaffigan added, “The amazing thing is that’s not even the only time I’ve opened for an automobile.” He flew to a state fair to open for Kyle Busch’s NASCAR vehicle. But Busch was not in attendance. Essentially, Jim Gaffigan warmed up the crowd to see 3,500 pounds of steel wheeled out. The car also did not have any jokes.
However, it seems the race car was a hit with the crowd. Gaffigan joked, “And the car did better than me. … But I’m hoping to open for a pickup truck.”
Conan airs weeknights at 11 p.m. on TBS.
