Jim Jones Issues $1K Drip Challenge To Lil Yachty After Viral Fashion Commentary

Jim Jones has always been about getting flee, so it should come as no surprise that he challenged Lil Yachty to a drip-off. On Tuesday (Aug. 13), DJ Akademiks shared a video of Capo issuing the terms of his challenge. The Dipset emcee explains that they would both get $1,000 and would see who could create the flyest outfit on that budget. He also added that they could conduct the showdown in either New York City or in Atlanta. Lil Yachty has yet to respond to the challenge.

Jones’ comments follow the Concrete Boys’ leader asserting that ATL has been responsible for most fashion trends over the last couple of years. He even went as far as stating that New York City doesn’t have the crown anymore. The rapper and his cohost Mitch went on to list brands that New Yorkers wear that they don’t rank as being fly, such as Amiri, Hellstar, Purple, and others.

“I feel like New York didn’t have this — I don’t want to say identity — but everyone used to just kinda copy Atlanta,” Lil Boat said to Cash Cobain on his A Safe Place Podcast. “You said it yourself. Even, like, the influence was extremely heavy from Atlanta… As far as style goes, I don’t think it’s sh*t going on when it comes to New York fashion.” He then went on to say that, while people in SoHo can get some fits off, people who live in the Bronx can’t dress.

His remarks were immediately met with resistance from New Yorkers such as Juelz Santana and Fivio Foreign who called Yachty out for dressing like someone from NYC. “WE all Love Atl But did @lilyachty SAY say the flyest [ninja emoji] N the Most TRENDSETTERS Came from ALT WOW Much love bro,” Santana typed. “How Yachty say ATL dress better then NY w a whole NY fit,” Fivio offered on X/Twitter.

Yachty then responded a couple of days later, clarifying his comments. His TikTok video apologized to the Bronx natives before immediately doubling down on his statement.

“I apologize to the Bronx if they feel some kind of way about that comment. Amiri down, do your thing. I be in New York so don’t f**king rob me. It was a joke,” he said. “Come on, bruh. As of lately? Atlanta! And L.A., don’t try and get in this. I’m telling you, bruh. When it comes to the flyest trendsetting people, it’s Atlanta…You can argue with your mama, you can argue with your daddy. I see people from L.A. trying to get in the conversation. [You got] nothing to do with this. High socks and chinos. Chill.”
