Jimmy Fallon’s Ragtime Gals Perform ‘Baby Got Back’; Blake Shelton Gets Personal Tour of ‘Race Through New York’
The Tonight Show has a unique spin on Sir Mix-a-Lot.
During the show’s week of episodes in Orlando, Fla., Jimmy Fallon’s Ragtime Gals performed a barbershop quartet version of Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back” to loud cheers from the audience on Tuesday night (Apr. 4).

Starting with the PG introduction of “Oh my golly, Becky,” Fallon kicked off the song while dressed in his multi-colored costumes with his fellow singers, A.D. Miles, Tom Shillue and Chris Tartaro. Miles, head writer for The Tonight Show, recently announced his plans to leave the show in order to get back to narrative writing and acting.
Fallon only broke into laughter a few times during the song, first when the singers got a bit off track during the lyric, “even white boys got to shout, baby got back.” The Ragtime Gals have performed several times on the show, being joined by celebrities including Sting and Kevin Spacey, performing songs ranging from “Roxanne” to “I Wanna Sex You Up.”

The episode also had Fallon giving pal Blake Shelton a personal tour of the new Universal Studios attraction “Race Through New York,” the Orlando-based ride inspired by The Tonight Show. Shelton seemed unimpressed, telling Fallon he looks like Potsie from Happy Days and making a point of praising the show’s pervious hosts during a walk through the ride’s historical gallery.
By the time they were ready to strap in, Shelton seemed over it, complaining “this is like being in a shopping mall, nothing’s for sale… you just walk around looking in windows, you can’t buy anything.” In the end, with some help from a tiny bottle of vodka, Shelton took it all back. “I have to admit this is pretty cool,” he said of the 3D experience. “It felt like a for-real roller coaster! You put me on a freakin’ roller coaster!”
