Jimmy Fallon reveals surprising relationship with 'Jeopardy' champion Austin Rogers
Jeopardy champion Austin Rogers stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to celebrate his 12-episode winning streak and more than $400,000 in winnings. He is now ranked fifth for all-time regular-season winnings. But it turns out that Fallon and Rogers go way back. They met 15 years ago where Rogers still bartends, a pub called the Gaf in New York City. When Fallon was presented with video of the upcoming Jeopardy guest, he recalled saying, “That’s my Austin! That’s my baby!”
But what Fallon was most tickled by was the guest’s approach to his Jeopardy introductions. Rogers would basically mime and be a goofball during the moment when the camera was on him and the show announced his name and how much he had won so far. “And then you inflated a balloon,” Fallon laughed. “You made a balloon animal and then held it up and said, ‘It’s a puppy.'”
