Jimmy Kimmel announces a summer break from his show as Matt Damon crashes to say he isn't happy
On Thursday night, Jimmy Kimmel announced he'd be taking a few months off from hosting his late-night show. Who was there to immediately react to the announcement negatively?
Matt Damon, of course.
"Tonight is my last new show of the summer. I'm taking the summer off to spend even more time with my family," Kimmel said, while assuring viewers that nothing is wrong and everyone in his family is healthy. He could just use a break.
"I've been doing this job for almost 18 years," Kimmel said. "While I'm gone, a cavalcade of capable people will be filling in for me."
That's when Damon, Kimmel's longtime partner in comedic feud, emerged from a bedroom in Kimmel's house wearing a robe and a mask, drink in hand.
"What am I gonna do?" Damon asked, exasperated. "I haven’t been on (the show). I’ve been back here three months waiting to get on," he said, referencing their long-running gag of Damon waiting to get onto "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" every night.
The segment ends after Kimmel spots his wife, Molly McNearney, walking out of the room that Damon also emerged from. She's also in a robe.
"I am going to get a divorce and we’ll be back with Pharrell Williams," Kimmel quipped.
Kimmel didn't share his return date, but fans know he'll be back on TV for the Emmys, which are still set to air on ABC Sept. 20 (8 EDT/5 PDT).

“I don't know where we will do this or how we will do this or even why we are doing this, but we are doing it and I am hosting it,” Kimmel previously said in a statement about the award show.
The "Live!" guest-hosted shows will start on Monday, July 6.
