ABC is going to have to dig deep to find a host for the Oscars after Jimmy Kimmel and John Mulaney have both passed on the gig.

Kimmel, who has hosted the past two years, made the decision a while ago, before he went on his traditional summer hiatus from Jimmy Kimmel Live! but Deadline understands that Mulaney was waiting for Kimmel to officially pass before making a decision. Turns out he said no too.

Mulaney is coming off John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s In LA, which was critically acclaimed for its chaotic approach to a “late-night” show but it didn’t manage to break into the main Emmy conversation. He also has a number of other projects in the works including a number of stand-up dates.

Kimmel has been a good corporate soldier for The Walt Disney Company, hosting the Oscars four times – 2017, 2018, 2023 and 2014 – as well as the Emmys three times.

Elsewhere, ABC is also still searching for a host for the Emmys, which airs on September 15.

The Oscars will air on ABC on March 2.
