Joan Vassos’ Engagement Ring Is Gorgeous! See Her Bling From Chock Chapple on ‘Golden Bachelorette’
Joan Vassos is officially engaged after The Golden Bachelorette finale. She accepted Chock Chapple’s proposal at the final rose ceremony and received a gorgeous engagement ring from her future husband.
The stunning diamond ring sparkled during the proposal, and Joan, 61, happily put in on her finger after she agreed to marry Chock, 61.
Before presenting Joan with the jewelry Chock professed his love and told her he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. The special moment came after Joan ended things with her runner-up, Guy Gansert.
After reflecting on their late spouses, Chock promised to "honor" her late husband, John, by "loving you every day."
"Joan, you will never be invisible to me. I'm gonna tell you that I love you everyday. I promise that. And I look into those gorgeous eyes and I just can't believe this is happening," he continued. "I still think I'm in a dream and I'm just gonna wake up. But Joan, I love you. And I want you to be in my life."
Following Chock's declaration, Joan admitted that she saw a future with him during their first one-on-one date to Disneyland. Chock eventually left the show after his mom's death, and Joan said that she realized how important he was to her during his brief absence.
"We are living proof that no matter what life throws at you, that there is still hope," she said. "Even at our age."
Joan and Chock had a connection right off the bat. When he got out of the limo, Chock presented Joan with a cup of “Chock o’noodle” soup after finding out that she has a special homemade soup recipe of her own that she makes for her family. During an October interview on the “Viall Files” podcast, the Maryland native opened up about why she had such a good feeling about her now-fiancé from the start.
“Immediately, I loved what he did,” she gushed. “The Chock o’noodle soup was hilarious. But the reason that was such a good thing to do is because I realized he went and figured out who I was and what was important to me. He knew the names of all four of my kids. Some people might call that creepy. Some people, like me, thought, ‘Wow, he really is interested.’”
Joan gave the insurance executive the first one-on-one date of the season, so their connection deepened right away. He also received a group date rose during week 4. However, that episode also forced the couple to encounter a difficult moment together when Chock found out that his mother had passed away.
Although Joan was devastated to hear that Chock had to leave, she completely understood since she also has an ailing mother. Plus, Joan left The Golden Bachelor early to be there for one of her daughters who was dealing with postpartum depression, so she was familiar with the importance of putting family first.
Luckily, her love story with Chock didn’t have to end there. He returned to the mansion for the next rose ceremony and continued to receive roses in the subsequent weeks. Joan got to meet Chock’s family on his hometown date in Kansas and he realized that he “wanted to spend the rest of [his] life” with her during fantasy suites.
Now, the lovebirds will have to navigate their relationship in the real world. Joan has already admitted that she wouldn’t mind doing a long-distance relationship, but figuring out the logistics won’t necessarily be easy. In fact, it didn’t work for season 1 Golden Bachelor couple Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist. They split just three months after tying the knot when they couldn’t agree on where to live – among other issues.
“You really can’t know somebody in four weeks. I’ll say that,” Theresa admitted on the “Almost Famous” podcast on November 5. “That’s all I can say.” She added, “It’s not something I want to discuss at this point. It’s not just the location thing. That’s all I’ll say.”
