JoAnna Garcia Swisher Shares What She Learned From “Queen” Reba McEntire
“She's just always bringing it.”
It’s been almost two decades since JoAnna Garcia Swisher shared the screen with Reba McEntire, but the country queen’s impact on the actress remains as strong as ever.
From 2001 to 2007—long before she brought Maddie to life on Netflix’s Sweet Magnolias—Swisher played the role of Reba’s oldest daughter Cheyenne on the singer’s eponymous sitcom, Reba.
In a recent video interview with SheKnows, Swisher was asked to reflect on a photo of her former Reba cast mates—McEntire included.
"This was some of the best years of my life," she mused while looking at the picture. "My first impression of Reba was I couldn't believe that I'm standing in the same room as Reba McEntire! Just being around her has taught me so much that you can be a boss and really successful woman. I'm still learning from her, and she's still the queen! She's just always bringing it."
Apparently, the ladies formed a considerable bond over the course of the show’s six seasons, because McEntire served as a bridesmaid in Swisher’s 2010 Palm Beach wedding to former New York Yankees player Nick Swisher.
But Swisher isn’t the only Reba cast-mate McEntire has stayed close with over the years. The former Voice coach will reunite with Melissa Peterman in the upcoming NBC sitcom Happy’s Place.
Swisher told People that she couldn’t be more excited to see what they have in store.
"I told them the other day, I was like, I'm going to be there for the first taping and I'm going to be the audience member that's going to laugh at all of their jokes," she said, adding that she’s not ruling out the possibility of a cameo.
“They know I would do anything for them!" Swisher said. "A hundred percent, I would do the show. But more importantly, I'm just excited to go watch the show because I am really excited for all of them. It's going to be great."
