Jodie Turner-Smith Breaks Silence On Ex-Husband Dating Lupita Nyong’o

Jodie Turner-Smith has nothing but well wishes for her ex-husband, Joshua Jackson, as he re-enters the dating world—reportedly with Lupita Nyong’o.

When explaining her feelings on Jackson’s alleged new romance, the Queen & Slim star told The Cut, “Good for them,” adding, “We need happiness in order to peacefully co-parent. I’m trying to get us to the Gwyneth [Paltrow] and Chris Martin level. I truly hope they’re happy and that it benefits us as a family.”

She and Jackson wed in 2019 and welcomed their daughter, Juno, in 2020. Turner-Smith filed for divorce in October 2023, and only two months later, paparazzi caught Jackson and Nyong’o holding hands on vacation. In regards to the Paltrow-Martin reference, they were married for over a decade before announcing in 2014 that they’d be “consciously uncoupling,” but would remain close for co-parenting’s sake.

The White Noise actress also admitted that while it was “really innocent” going public and ultimately making their relationship a topic for public fodder and scrutiny, she will not be doing that again.

“When you’re in the public eye, a part of you belongs to the public. It stops being yours and becomes theirs too,” said Turner-Smith. “I didn’t have an accurate scope of understanding what it would mean to share my relationship with the public. It’s something I will never do again. Ever. That is one major lesson that I took away from this, which is just that people don’t need to know everything.”

The month after Turner-Smith’s divorce filing, she and Jackson agreed to joint physical and legal custody of their daughter and neither party is set to pay child support.

“I just have to do everything that I can to set Juno up to win and to peacefully co-parent with someone whom I once loved very, very much,” the actress shared. “Peace is what’s needed right now. Grace is what’s needed right now. Love, empathy, compassion. I’m trying to be all those things and have faith that when I’m all those things, I will see that reflected back toward me.”

Additionally, Turner-Smith revealed that she’s been house-hopping and working more than usual.

“I don’t have the luxury of turning down a job because of location,” she noted. “I am a single mom now. ’I got a baby. I need some money. I need cheese for my egg,’ as Ms. Cardi B says.”

The actress recently finished shooting A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, starring alongside Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie, and is on a press run for The Acolyte.
