Joe Budden Asserts Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” Verse Exposed “Phony” Friends
Joe Budden asserts that Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” verse exposed the industry’s fake friendships. During a recent episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, Joey and the gang examined Metro Boomin, Future, and K. Dot’s instant classic. Joe celebrated the fact that Kendrick and Future’s verses attacked the “Drake all-stars.”
He used Travis Scott as an example, recalling when the Houston native asked Future and Metro Boomin to play the unreleased diss track at Rolling Loud Los Angeles. He saw the move as corny because Travis always appeared on tracks with Drizzy and vice versa.
“Not you [Travis Scott], hopping around on stage like a f**kity-f**k, saying, ‘Play the Drake diss.’ I hate these phony friendships. Enough of this!…Travis, you phony-a** ni**a… Travis at Rolling Loud: ‘Oh, play this one! Play the diss!’ This was the song!” he said.

“I love that Future is the one to break up all of these monetized friendships… All of the Drake all-stars that ni**as would be too scared to press Drake about—that’s [Rick] Ross, that’s [DJ] Khaled, that’s Young Thug, that’s the whole crop—he didn’t do that with Future.”
And how does Drake feel? Well, it seems he has broken his silence on the manner. During a recent It’s All A Blur/Big As The What tour stop in Florida, Drizzy took the stage with an apparent aggressive energy. Fans pointed out his high energy and emphasis when performing certain songs like “Energy” (“I got ni**as that’ll still try f**king me over, I got rap ni**as that I gotta act like I like, But my acting days are over, f**k them ni**as for life”) and “Nonstop” (“Servin’ up a pack, Ni**as pullin’ gimmicks ’cause they scared to rap, ayy/ Funny how they shook, ayy, got these ni**as shook/ Pullin’ back the curtain by myself, take a look”).
He then took a moment to address the crowd. The Her Loss rapper detailed how he’s been feeling the past couple of days. His timely speech felt more akin to self-affirmations in the heat of the ensuing Hip-Hop civil war. “A lot of people asking me how I’m feelin’,” Drizzy expressed. “I got my head up high, my back straight. I’m 10 f**king toes down in Florida or anywhere else I go. And I know no matter what, there’s not a ni**a on this Earth that could ever f**k with me in my life.”
