Joe Burrow Reflects on Viral Paris Fashion Week Runway Look, Modeling Backless Peter Do Blazer
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s high-fashion moment continues to gain attention. Last June, Burrow walked the runway at Vogue World: Paris, an event held at Place Vend?me to kick off Paris Fashion Week. The show, which merged the worlds of sports and French fashion, drew a star-studded cast of models for the runway, including Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, Burrow’s former LSU teammate. Burrow’s look — a backless blazer from Peter Do’s collection — went viral, and after his Sept. 18 appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show,” Google search interest in his look has surged in recent days, according to Google Trends data.
During the interview, Burrow shared insights into his wardrobe choice. “They gave me the choice to wear a shirt under it or no shirt under it,” he explained. “I thought no shirt under it looked better than the shirt under it, and they agreed, so we went with that.” The outfit featured satin lapels, a design typical of Peter Do’s structured yet modern aesthetic. The absence of a shirt beneath the blazer emphasized Burrow’s confident approach to blending sports and high fashion.

Burrow’s foray into the fashion world has not been without humor. On “Pardon My Take” podcast in July, he admitted, “I’ve been roasted in just about every group chat I could possibly be roasted in,” acknowledging the playful teasing that followed his runway debut. However, the quarterback’s bold look has undeniably made waves, with searches for his Paris Fashion Week appearance spiking after his recent media appearances.
The Vogue World event, held just before the Paris 2024 Olympics, was a crossover between sports and fashion. Figures from football, Formula 1, basketball and various other division sports solidifying their presence in fashion over the past couple of years, further blurring the lines between performance on the field and the runway.
