Shortly after, Jonas was spotted wearing his wedding ring after being photographed without it a couple of weeks before. The musician also posted a photo on his Instagram where his wedding ring was clearly visible amid the rumors.
The reason for the divorce, according to the documents, is that “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.”
The following morning, Turner shared a statement from “the two of us” to her Instagram account, writing, “There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
Jonas and Turner said, “I do,” not once but twice in 2019. They tied the knot in Las Vegas after the Billboard Music Awards and followed up that wedding with a more formal ceremony in France the next month.
The couple began dating in 2016 after mutual friends encouraged them to meet. After a year together, the Jonas brother and Game of Thrones star announced their engagement. They welcomed their first daughter, Willa, in July 2020, and their second, whose name they haven’t announced yet, in July 2022.
The dissolution of marriage document also states the parents will split custody of their two daughters, noting, “it is in the best interests of the minor children that the parties have shared parental responsibility.”
During an interview with Elle UK in May 2022, Turner announced she was expecting and shared that raising the next generation is “what life is about for me.”
“The greatest thing in life is seeing my daughter go from strength to strength,” the Staircase actress told the publication. “We’re so excited to be expanding the family. It’s the best blessing ever.”
Shortly after the Elle cover, Turner also appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she revealed the first night she met Jonas, she knew she was going to marry him. The couple went out for drinks with several of their friends, and they all went back to her apartment after for more drinks.
“It may have been the alcohol,” she joked, before adding, “I remember him leaving, and I just wept to my brother. I was like, ‘I love this man so much.'”
Jonas is currently on tour with the Jonas Brothers on The Tour, where they are playing songs from their five biggest albums. Turner attended the tour’s opening night at Yankee Stadium, sharing photos of the two of them together.
