Joely Fisher Discusses Sister Carrie Fisher’s Death With Dr. Oz
Carrie Fisher‘s half sister Joely Fisher went on The Dr. Oz Show to talk about her sister’s lasting legacy and the effect her death has had on the world and everyone who knew her.
Joely and Carrie have the same father, actor Eddie Fisher, but different mothers. Carrie Fisher’s mother, actress Debbie Reynolds, died Dec. 28, 2016, just one day after Fisher, a fact that Joely Fisher says was not all that unexpected. “We knew that it wasn’t gonna be long, that she wouldn’t stay very long here without her daughter.”
Joely also detailed the last time she saw Carrie and their last text messages to each other. “Well, I saw her in November for her birthday, and we had a grand time, the typical Carrie party,” she remembered. When speaking about the texts, she said, “We talked about politics. We talked about our mothers, who were frail, both of them, and our children, and promised to see each other at Christmas, which I upheld. I was there … I think she knew I was there.”
