IF: John Krasinski Recalls Heartfelt Reunion With The Office Co-Star Steve Carell
Instead of “laughing all day,” IF director John Krasinski found himself emotional during his reunion with his The Office co-star Steve Carell for his latest film venture.
Krasinski and Carell starred opposite each other in NBC’s hit sitcom The Office for seven seasons. The NBC series also helped propel the actor’s career to new heights, and he has since established himself as a director and writer, working behind the camera for films like Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, The Hollars, A Quiet Place, and A Quiet Place Part II.
So when the two reunited on IF, Carell had nothing but good words for Krasinski, which — according to him — made him cry.
“As much fun as it was to work with him, the most powerful part about it was he came in with the most heartfelt speech about how proud he is of me to be making movies,” Krasinski told Total Film magazine (via Slash Film). “He said in reading the script, ‘I’m just so honored to be a part of it. I’ll do whatever it takes.’ So when I thought that I would be laughing all day, I was crying all day.”
The Office has enjoyed a fruitful run on NBC from 2005 to 2013. Carell starred as the selfish Michael Scott, while Krasinski played the funny Jim Halpert.
What is IF about?
Set to hit theaters on May 17, 2024, IF will center on a young girl who will soon discover she has the ability to see abandoned imaginary friends.
“The film is about a girl who discovers that she can see everyone’s imaginary friends — and what she does with that superpower — as she embarks on a magical adventure to reconnect forgotten IFs with their kids,” the synopsis reads.
Krasinski will also star in the movie alongside Ryan Reynolds, Cailey Fleming, Fiona Shaw, Alan Kim, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Bobby Moynihan. Joining Carell in the voice cast are Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Maya Rudolph, Awkwafina, and more.
