John Mayer Just Dropped The Most Relatable Holiday Song Ever! 'CVS Bag'

Jeff Mazzeo

Many people have called John Mayer the voice of our generation but never has that statement been more true than after he released his brand new song about traveling during the holidays, "CVS Bag."

The soulful singer shared a live version of the new hit to his Instagram on Monday which also happened to be the first time he ever performed it. Despite it being a hilarious joke, everyone traveling this holiday season should listen, connect and learn from the short tune.

"I wrote this song myself and it's about something we all encounter around the holidays," Mayer explained on his Instagram show, "Current Mood."

There Is Truth In Every Joke

John picked up a mic, did a little equipment check and went directly into his true to life tribute to the one thing every holiday guest has in common... the CVS bag.

"I wrote a song about the trustiest of companions while staying at someone else’s house for the holidays. Please enjoy “CVS Bag,” as performed last night on @currentmood. Happy Holidays! ??" Mayer captioned his song post.

Obviously, John's sense of humor and great voice can make any tune magical but his professionalism made the song less of a joke and more of a commentary about where we are in society.

The Lyrics Ring True

“I fell asleep too early, I woke up at midnight, I was hungry, It was alright, you were there, CVS bag on the table," John sang.

It did not take long for his song to become a big hit with his millions of followers and we are sure it will become a holiday classic.

"Pawn Stars" Chumlee commented, "Amazing," while activist and novelist Shaun King left several crazy face????????emojis.

Comedian Bog Sagat praised Mayer by commenting, "Really funny."

The number of people that told the singer how relatable his song is was overwhelming and they had to let John know.

"Bro! As a traveling musician, you seriously know how accurate this is. Lol ??. I hop it charts for you dude! ?? the ?? check had me ?? ??#cvsbag," one follower wrote.

Killer Content

John is one of the best influencers on the gram but he is always very open and humble while entertaining his 4.9 million followers. In October, he gave his fans a treat and posted a video of his 18-year-old self performing at his high-school graduation. He made it clear that he didn't graduate that day because he was a bad student but the video is really cool.

"June 1995, Fairfield, CT. That’s me in my high school band playing our graduation ceremony. I didn’t actually get my diploma that day, as I was a terrible student who was only interested in playing the guitar and writing songs. So let this be a lesson to all young people everywhere - if you follow your dreams and stay focused, one day you too can go to summer school."

We love John's sarcastic tone and that's why he's the voice of our generation... kinda.
