John Mulaney Returning to Broadway in ‘All In: Comedy About Love’
John Mulaney, who made his Broadway debut in “Oh, Hello” with Nick Kroll, is returning to the stage. He’s starring in “All In: Comedy About Love,” a play by former “Saturday Night Live” writer Simon Rich.
The show, based on Rich’s short stories that were published in the New Yorker, is described as a collection of “hilarious stories about dating, heartbreak, marriage and that sort of thing” performed by a rotating cast of “some of the funniest people on the planet,” including famous faces from “SNL,” Broadway and beyond.

According to the official release, “Sometimes they will play pirates, sometimes they will play dogs, and there’s one where we make them talk in British accents. But even though the show’s kind of all over the place, it’s meant to tell one simple story: that the most important part of life is who we share it with. We hope everybody will relate to it, even if it was their date’s idea to come and they are starting out from a place of quiet resentment.”
“All In” begins performances on Dec. 11 at the Hudson Theatre and will feature a circulating cast of four actors for 10 weeks. For the first five weeks, Mulaney will lead the cast and be joined by Fred Armisen, Renée Elise Goldsberry (Dec. 11 – 30), Chloe Fineman (Jan. 2 – 12), and Richard Kind. Additional casting through the rest of the run will be announced at a later date.
Alex Timbers, the Tony-winning director of “Moulin Rouge,” is directing “All In,” having previously worked with Mulaney on his comedy specials “Kid Gorgeous” and “Baby J,” as well as his Broadway debut in “Oh, Hello.” Rich and Mulaney spent three years together as writers at “SNL.”
“I am so goddamn happy to return to Broadway this winter with my favorite writer ever,” Mulaney captioned a photo with Rich on Instagram . “I’ll be leading the cast for the first five weeks. Be there.”
“Saturday Night Live” creator Lorne Michaels is producing “All In” with Seaview and New Yorker Studios. Micah Frank and Caroline Maroney will produce on behalf of Broadway Video. General Management is by Wagner Johnson Productions and casting is by Taylor Williams, CSA.
