John Travolta says 'good friend' Pitbull was the one who talked him into going bald
John Travolta revealed that the inspiration for his new bald look was Pitbull. Yep, that Pitbull.
“A good friend, Armando Perez, Pitbull — he lives his life like this,” Travolta told Extra in a new interview. “He would send pictures of me, I have all my hair, and he’d superimpose no hair and say, ‘I prefer this,’ so I thought … Maybe it’s time to do it.”

Travolta and Pitbull appeared at several events together after the rapper provided the soundtrack to Travolta’s 2018 movie Gotti. The poorly reviewed story of late New York City mobster John Gotti tanked at the box office, but it was special to Travolta. He was an executive producer and real-life wife Kelly Preston was his co-star.
“I listen to Pitbull. He is my man. I love my Pitbull,” Travolta told Spanish-language Southeast Florida newspaper El Nuevo Herald while promoting the film in June 2018. “He told me he wanted to be part of it. I said ‘Oh my God, we would be so lucky to have you to be part of this.’ He wrote a beautiful song called ‘Amore,’ which is at the opening and at the end of the film.”
During the same interview, Travolta said Pitbull’s work starting several charter schools, called Sports Leadership & Management schools, is “extraordinary.” Pitbull is a Miami native, and Travolta has a home in the state.
Fans went bonkers over the Grease star’s hair change when he debuted it last month. Travolta told Extra that he and wife Preston both approve of it too.
“Oh, she loves it. … She has always loved the idea,” he said.
Travolta appreciates that his new look is low maintenance.
“It’s been a lot easier. Life’s simpler,” he said. “The biggest fun has been just the response to it. I felt like Zoolander or something — I came out and my new look became headline news. The only other time I was a leading story was when I mispronounced at the Oscars.”
