Joker: Folie à Deux Rating Revealed, Contains Brief Full Nudity and Strong Violence
Joker: Folie à Deux has been rated R.
Per Variety, the Motion Picture Association (MPA) has officially given Joker: Folie à Deux an unsurprising R-rating. The film continans “some strong violence, language throughout, some sexuality and brief full nudity.”
The 2019 Joker movie, in comparison, was rated R for “strong bloody violence, disturbing behavior, language and brief sexual images.”
The Joker: Folie à Deux trailer is on the way
On April 2, 2024, Warner Bros. Pictures revealed the first official poster for Joker: Folie à Deux, which releases in United States theaters this October. The company also revealed that the first trailer for the upcoming DC Studios sequel will be unveiled on April 9, 2024.
Joker: Folie à Deux serves as a sequel to 2019’s Joker, which was directed by Todd Phillips. Phillips is returning to direct the new film and also co-wrote the script with Scott Silver, while Joaquin Phoenix is reprising his role as Arthur Fleck/Joker.
Phoenix will be joined by Lady Gaga as Dr. Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn and Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond. Additionally, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, Steve Coogan, Ken Leung, and Harry Lawtey are all playing undisclosed roles in the film, while Leigh Gill and Sharon Washington are reprising their roles from the first movie.
Plot details remain under wraps at this time; however, shortly after the movie was officially announced by Warner Bros., news broke that Joker: Folie à Deux will be a musical. It has since been revealed that it will be a jukebox musical in the same vein as Mamma Mia! or Moulin Rouge. Joker: Folie à Deux will reportedly feature 15 well-known songs, one of them being “That’s Entertainment” from The Band Wagon.
