Jon Stewart Says ‘The Daily Show’ Emmy Win Has Made “An Old Man Very Proud”, Thanks News Team & “Keeper Of The Flame” Jen Flanz
Jon Stewart is back winning Emmys.
Stewart, who won the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Series, one of the categories previous iterations, for 10 consecutive years between 2003 and 2012 as host of The Daily Show, returned to Emmy winning ways in the Outstanding Talk Series category.

Stewart, who got a kiss from Stephen Colbert on his way to stage, said that the win has “made an old man very happy”.
“This is remarkable, to have an opportunity to work with this incredibly talented group, has really made my Mondays,” he said.

Stewart received the award from Billy Crystal, who said it was 50 years since he first went on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
He thanked his fellow hosts Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta and Desi Lydic, saying that they “kick ass”.
“But if you really want to know the heart and soul of the team, if you really want to know the keeper of the flame of The Daily Show, miss Jen Flanz,” he added, highlighting the work of the showrunner and exec producer who has been on the show since 1998, when he started as a PA.
“I love our show and I love the people we work with and I love working in TV,” Flanz added.
It is the second win in a row for The Daily Show, which won last year with Trevor Noah, who had already left the show, picking up the award. This year, The Daily Show beat Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Stewart largely owned this category until John Oliver came along. Not only did he win 10ff years in a row, but it was The Colbert Report, which he exec produced, which won in 2013 and 2014 before he won for his previous last season of The Daily Show in 2015.
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver then won seven years in a row before The Daily Show returned to winning ways last year (ironically besting Stewart’s own The Problem with Jon Stewart).
The HBO show was then moved to a different category, facing off against SNL in Outstanding Scripted Variety Series, where it won.
