Jordin Sparks served up some major sneaker moments for her stint in New York yesterday. The “American Idol” winner had a full day’s worth of performing and she did it all while rocking Air Jordan sneakers. Her first stop was at Fox Studios, followed by her “No Restrictions Live & Intimate” show at The Gramercy Theatre.
A beloved sneaker by many, the “No Air” singer sported a pair of Air Jordan sneakers in a white and light gray colorway. The classic style featured a chunky composition, white lace-up closures and Nike’s Jumpman logo featured throughout, making the silhouette instantly recognizable.
Contrasting her Jordan kicks, Sparks sported a black loose-fitting maxi dress featuring exaggerated billowed short sleeves equipped with leather detailing and a pocket with zipper hardware on the side. The casual ensemble was ideal for moving around NYC before she headed to her performance at The Gramercy Theater.
During her show later on in the day, Sparks changed up her look and her sneakers, sporting mismatched Jordan kicks. She wore the Air Jordan 1 Gold Top 3, which were released in limited quantities by Union Los Angeles during ComplexCon in 2017. The left shoe was black and white, while the other was black and metallic gold. Mismatched footwear is a styling trick beloved in the sneaker world as well as a specific creative few, including Sarah Jessica Parker.
With her mismatched shoes, the performer wore baggy black high-waisted cargo pants with a form-fitted long-sleeve cheetah-printed turtleneck top.
This stage look is a bit of a departure for the singer whose performance and event footwear usually include neutral, metallic or vibrantly colored pumps, peep-toe and platform heels from a range of brands, including Giuseppe Zanotti and Christian Louboutin.
In fact, the “American Idol” winner memorably wore a set of Louboutin’s green cork-heeled platform sandals throughout her music video for “One Step At A Time.” Sparks also wears colorful Reebok and Nike sneakers while off-duty.
Nike introduced its Jumpman logo in 1987 and trademarked it in 1989. Since then, the logo has been fixed to every Jordan style the brand has ever released. Similarly, the Air Jordan was crafted by the Nike brand in April of 1985, only a few years before the Jumpman logo was created and trademarked. Since its conception, the Air Jordan sneaker has been updated to include an array of colorways and prints.
They have since become a go-to shoe for many, including A-Listers like Ben Affleck, Jason Sudeikis and more.
