Jordyn Woods' 'Red Table Talk' sit-down isn't a surprise: Details on her relationship with the Smiths
Jordyn Woods appeared on Jada Pinkett Smith‘s Red Table Talk on Friday, where she broke her silence on her alleged romantic relationship with Khloé Kardashian‘s then-boyfriend Tristan Thompson. But while loyal fans of the Facebook Watch show are wondering why the actress is getting involved in the Kardashian-Woods drama, it turns out that the Smiths are the reason that the 21-year-old model was friends with the Kardashian-Jenner family at all.
According to posts on social media in which Woods refers to Will Smith as “Uncle Willy,” the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star has known Woods for much of her life — and he’s apparently made a huge impact.
Happy birthday to a man who has greatly impacted my life. Love you uncle willy

It was when Jordyn’s late father, John Woods, worked as a sound engineer on the hit NBC sitcom alongside Will that the two became good friends, according to Jada on Red Table Talk. After that, Will’s son Trey grew up alongside John’s son Josh, which eventually led to a relationship between Jordyn and Jaden, who are just one year apart. And even after John passed away from cancer in 2017, the two families have been like one.
“These friendships made the Woods family an extension of ours,” Jada said.

The relationship between the 21 and 20-year-old remains strong to this day, and is even the reason why Jordyn became connected with the Kardashian-Jenners.
In a Q&A video posted to Kylie Jenner’s YouTube channel in July 2018, she and Jordyn explain the origin of their friendship, which just so happens to be Jaden Smith.
“We met through a mutual friend,” Jenner explained in the video. “[Jordyn’s] known Jaden like her whole life, and then I met him in like middle school. And they were best fiends — they still are.”
Although the Smiths are also good friends with Kylie and Khloe’s family, and have publicly supported each of the women’s endeavors, it seems that people are interpreting Jada’s latest move as taking Jordyn’s side. But according to both she and Will on Friday’s episode, it simply felt like their responsibility to give Jordyn the chance to speak her truth.
“I know how hard it was for you and your family when [John] passed. And I was watching you grow and become a woman, and I had a deep sense that we would be here one day. And what I want to say to you is that the world attacks,” Will said in the episode. “But I want you to know that you are supported and I got you, and we got you.”
