Josh Gad Takes on Barbie Vs. G.I. Joe in 'Toy Wars'
Josh Gad is going into battle for Toy Wars! The upcoming limited series for Amazon will dramatize the fierce conflict between toymakers Hasbro, the makers of G.I. Joe, Transformers, and My Little Pony, and Mattel, makers of Barbie.
Gad will adapt the script from a nonfiction book about the plastic-peddling conglomerates with the help of writer Ryan Dixon, director Seth Gordon, and O.C. creator Josh Schwartz. Schwartz’s own father will be the basis for a character in the series, as Stephen Schwartz was one of Hasbro’s “Three Musketeers,” who elevated the business into the top toy company in the world.
Gad will star as Alan Hassenfeld, an unlikely executive who must take over Hasbro after his brilliant brother dies. No release date is announced quite yet, but we’re as excited as a kid in a 1980s My Little Pony commercial.
