Five months after confirming that he and his wife, Tamsin Egerton, welcomed their fourth child together, the actor, 46, opens up to PEOPLE about how he maintains a healthy work-life balance.

"We have so much fun with our kids, so to be able to have that when I get off set, especially on something like this, is a dream come true. You need it," adds Hartnett. "You need it in order to take this stuff out of your bed."
The actor confirmed in a 2021 Mr Porter feature that he and Egerton welcomed a third child in late 2019. The couple also share two other kids, whose names have not been confirmed.
Even with a new addition to the family, Hartnett tells PEOPLE that he and his wife, who accompanied him to the event, still prioritize date nights.
"We don't usually do this," he jokes. "We usually have fewer people looking at us when we're going on a date night. But we, you know, we'll say this is a pretty, this is up there as far as like fun day nights go. She's never seen the movie, so I'm excited to see what her reaction is."
The M. Night Shyamalan-directed project finds Hartnett playing Cooper, a father who treats his daughter Riley (Ariel Donoghue) to floor seats at fictional pop star Lady Raven's concert (Saleka Shyamalan).
The film follows the father-daughter duo as they navigate the scene after learning that it is a massive cover-up in which authorities are attempting to catch a serial killer dubbed the Butcher.
Hartnett tells PEOPLE that he was on board with the project from the very beginning.

"I knew that he [Shyamalan] was like one of the kind of best working original filmmakers in Hollywood. And just when this came up before I even read the script, I knew I wanted to be a part of it," he says.
"So this was obviously a very challenging role, but I like a challenge. So it turned out to work. I think it worked out really well," adds Hartnett. "I hope we get to work again."
