Josh Peck Praises Friend and Former “Grandfathered” Costar John Stamos for Being 'So Good to Me' Over the Years
"He would constantly be giving me sometimes hard to hear truths, but it always was in my best interest," Peck said of working with Stamos on the 2015 sitcom
It's been nearly a decade since Josh Peck and John Stamos starred in Grandfathered together, but the actors' bond hasn't wavered ever since.
In the sitcom, Stamos' character Jimmy got the surprise of a lifetime when he learned that he was not only a father to Gerald (Peck) but also a grandfather to Gerald's daughter. On the July 26 episode of Dave Coulier's Full House Rewind podcast, Peck, 37, reflected on how his time working with Stamos, 60, buoyed his confidence in comedy and led to a years-long friendship.
"He's been so good to me, and I always say, rarely could I have imagined that at 28, meeting people like you and Stamos, that these people, like, I could truly call them a friend, and he's been as good as gold to me," Peck told Coulier, 64, of Stamos.
"He's the best," the former child star said, agreeing when Coulier said the E.R. actor is a "brother" to him.

The Fox sitcom aired for only one season in 2015, and Peck said it was a "high-pressure situation" for both him and Stamos in different ways.
"I hadn't done anything at that level publicly on TV again, so I was feeling a lot of pressure and especially coming off of something as beloved as Drake & Josh. But I think naturally people think of you in one way, and the hope was maybe they could also think of me in an additional way, like an extra flavor," Peck recalled. "And so I'm carrying all those nerves. And then John, understandably, is carrying – it's [his] show."
Stamos was "setting the tone" and people were "looking to [him] for answers," Peck recalled, but that didn't stop the Full House star from giving him some advice that he still carries with him.
"He would constantly be giving me sometimes hard to hear truths but it always was in my best interest. So in that way I really just appreciated him."

In 2015, Peck told PEOPLE that it was a "dream" to be working with Stamos on the sitcom.
"John is so generous with his years of knowledge about this business. He tells me to always be 'classic.'"
Stamos, meanwhile, described the show as a story about a "George Clooney kind of guy," telling PEOPLE of his character, "He's a bachelor who thinks he's got it all, but there is something missing. He finds out he has a son and it takes him aback, but that's not all. It turns out he's got a daughter, and that makes him a grandfather."

In the years since they filmed Grandfathered, their bond has remained strong, as Peck said on the podcast. Last year, when Stamos turned 60, Peck posted a sweet tribute for him on Instagram calling him "sweet as pie and exceptionally kind."
"You're a great actor, a great husband, a great father and truly a great friend. You're 60. I can't wait to go to the movies together, as your ticket will now be half price. Love you, Happy Birthday."
