Joy Behar asks whether Michigan protesters are 'willing to sign away their right to treatment' for violating stay-at-home orders
With stay-at-home orders becoming the new normal for people across the United States, some are taking to the streets to protest restrictions they say have gone too far—and Joy Behar has some choice words for them.
Behar reacted to reports of protestors in Michigan violating Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s stay-at-home order on Thursday’s episode of The View.
“I’d like to ask them if they’re willing to sign away their right to treatment if and when they get infected,” she said. “Are you going to say ‘okay, I don’t need a ventilator because I thought I should go out and defy the governor’s order?’” she asked.
She continued, “I’d like to know if people in states that are following the guidelines—like people like us in New York—can be sure that these people don’t come here.”
Viewers took to Twitter with their reactions to Behar’s comments, and some said they agree:
As someone who is in Michigan, the order is limiting non-essential items at stores over 50,000 sq feet, not all stores. I agree with Joy, none of those people or their family members should have the right to be treated if they become sick due to their ignorance!!!

Joy you’re absolutely right the Michigan protesters should not be allowed in a hospital no matter what no ventilators no treatment

But others sided with the protestors:
Michigan is in trouble alright. Its in trouble because the govenor thinks shes a dictator. This isnt about health and safety anymore and people know it. And no I dont want government to take care of me ever. If you do I pity you 👍🏻

FAKE NARRATIVE!
They are protesting government overreaching. I would rather die free than die a slave to government telling me I can't paint my house or plant a garden to feed my family.
You should be thanking them for fighting for american freedom!— DillyDally (@DillyDally1963) April 16, 2020
