Julie Chen continues to stand by husband Les Moonves on 'Big Brother' after exiting 'The Talk'
Julie Chen continued to show support for her husband, Les Moonves, when she surprised the final five Big Brother houseguests Wednesday with an early eviction night. No, Chen isn’t getting evicted. Although, the host did announce Tuesday that she has officially left The Talk after nine years.
“I have been at ‘The Talk’ since the day it started nine years ago, and the cast, crew and staff have become family over the years,” shared Chen in the video, which was filmed on the set of Big Brother. “But right now, I need to spend more time at home with my husband and our young son. So I’ve decided to leave ‘The Talk.'”

Chen’s announcement to leave The Talk came just over a week after her husband, former CBS Chairman and CEO Les Moonves, exited the network, following multiple sexual misconduct allegations. Of course, other daytime talk show hosts had something to say about Chen’s departure.
On Monday, prior to Chen’s announcement, The Real hosts Loni Love and Adrienne Bailon disagreed on whether or not Chen should leave. Love stated, “I think it’s appropriate that she leaves,” to which Bailon argued, “I think this is the time that she should be talking about it. You have the greatest platform on daytime television to speak to the people, to say your voice.”
And on Watch What Happens Live Tuesday night, TODAY hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb showed their support for Chen’s decision. Kotb stated, “I think it would be hard, I sort of get it, it would be hard to be on that show if you couldn’t share. So, I sort of understood.” While Guthrie added, “I think we just have to respect her. Whatever she decides, we have to respect her.”
Chen will, however, remain on Big Brother, where she has been the host for 18 years, and where she has officially changed her on-camera name to “Julie Chen-Moonves” to show that she is standing by her man.
Big Brother airs Sundays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. and on Thursdays at 9 p.m. on CBS.
