Justin Long pooped the bed with wife Kate Bosworth next to him: ‘I can’t dance around it’
This took their relationship to the next level.
Justin Long revealed events that transpired after contracting food poisoning on a trip to Mexico City with his wife, Kate Bosworth.
“I was hooked up to an IV, and she was having to follow me to the bathroom with the thing,” Long, 46, told “The PIE” podcast hosts Kurt Sutter and Katey Sagal. “It was like ‘Dumb and Dumber.’ I was just, like, really comically unloading, and then, at one point that night, I woke up, and … there’s no other way to say this. I can’t dance around it: I had s–t the bed.”
And next to him sleeping was Bosworth, 41, whom the “Barbarian” actor said was patient with him in the aftermath.
“By the end, I was not even thinking about it. She was like two feet away from me with this IV bag and she was holding it so patiently, and she was like: ‘Everything’s fine,” he recalled. “And I thought about how much I loved her. I was like: ‘I just love this person. I’m so grateful to this person.’”
“She was not judging, not making me feel weird, or bad, and I just felt so lucky, you know? I was s–tting my brains out, and she was looking at me lovingly, and I thought: ‘This is really romantic,” the “F is for Family” star continued.
The couple was in Mexico City as ambassadors for Smile Train, a charity benefiting children with cleft lips and palates.
Bosworth recalled how the vice president of the organization contacted her in 2016 via social media. However, she didn’t see the message until years later due to a setting Bosworth had checked on the app to only receive messages from people she followed.
“It’s funny how the universe works in mysterious ways,” the “Blue Crush” star told People in May. “He had seen me on a flight in 2016 and DM’d me, ‘Hey, if you’re interested, I’d love to introduce you to this organization that I work with. It’s called Smile Train. I just would love to chat.’ Cut to eight years later, I see this message.”
The pair visited families and children with the condition and toured a Smile Train-funded hospital and care center. Long went on, saying that the organization aligned with their values.
“I actually got to witness firsthand how great these doctors were and the level of excellence at this hospital,” he said. “I was the direct recipient of all of this great, important funding from Smile Train.”
Long got food poisoning on one of the days that they had to view a hospital.
“Thankfully, it was just one day,” Long told People in May. “And Kate, thank God, she was so great. She just picked up the torch, and she ended up doing the rest of that day like such a champ.”
Bosworth was amazed at the level of care shown to patients.
“When we first started working with Smile Train, the initial impact that you connect with is, ‘Oh, they provide these incredible surgeries for people,” she said. “What I continue to be so extraordinarily impressed with about this organization, but perhaps the thing that impressed me most was that they provide not only the surgery but all of this therapy that is needed throughout their lifetime.”
The two co-chaired the 25th Anniversary Smile Train Gala this past May, alongside Christie Brinkley and Chanel Iman, who are on the honorary committee.
The pair met while filming their 2022 movie “House of Darkness,” and quietly got married in May 2023.
Long confirmed the marriage rumors on his podcast “Life is Short,” while Bosworth posted a picture with her wedding band on her Instagram Story.
