Justin Theroux and Fiancée Nicole Bloom Hold Hands on a Romantic Stroll in New York City

Justin Theroux and Nicole Brydon Bloom are stepping out as a newly engaged couple.

On Wednesday, Sept. 18, Theroux, 53, and his fiancée Bloom, 30, were seen holding hands as they took a walk near Washington Square Park in New York City. The Beetlejuice Beetlejuice actor wore a white t-shirt, dark-washed jeans and black boots, with a matching hat and sunglasses on the stroll, while Bloom wore a black shirt and blue jeans with a white bag slung over her shoulder.

Theroux, who was previously married to Jennifer Aniston from 2015 to 2018, proposed to Bloom in Italy in August while the couple were overseas for the 81st Venice International Film Festival. PEOPLE confirmed the pair's engagement as they hit the red carpet for Tim Burton's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice world premiere.

He and Bloom, known best for her role on HBO's The Gilded Age, were first seen spending time together at a Netflix event at the New York City social club Zero Bond in early 2023. The couple were then seen sharing a kiss in August 2023 at Altro Paradiso in Manhattan, months before making their red carpet debut together at Vanity Fair's Oscars Party in March 2024.

Theroux, who has in the past expressed a strong desire to keep his relationships private, recently opened up about how he and Bloom first met during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show. "A friend of ours was having sort-of a party at their restaurant, bar," he said, adding, "The first impression was wow," when host Drew Barrymore asked what he initially thought of his now-fiancée.

"And then a friend of mine who was with me, literally the quote, [they] said, 'That's the one.' Like, we hadn't even met yet," he said. "And I was like, 'She's so stunning.' So I went over and started talking and things like that and it progressed."

Bloom debuted her engagement ring at the Venice premiere for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The ring, made by Stephanie Gottlieb Fine Jewelry, is 4-carat, emerald cut, flawless diamond set in platinum with 18-carat yellow gold inlay and additionally features Bloom and Theroux's birthstones embedded within its band.

Bloom most recently shared an image of Theroux on social media on Sept. 10, when she posted a photo of Instagram of her and the Mulholland Drive actor smiling against a tennis court backdrop at the 2024 U.S. Open.
