Justin Timberlake announces free surprise concert at Orpheum
Justin Timberlake is coming home to Memphis.
The Millington-born pop star has announced a rare, intimate, and free concert on Jan. 19 at downtown’s Orpheum Theatre. Those wishing to get tickets for the event can enter to receive them at Ticketmaster.com.
The surprise concert, which was announced Friday on the Timberlake's social media accounts, is believed to be part of the announcement and promotion of new music from the singer.
A simple message on the accounts -- reading "JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE IS PERFORMING FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY IN MEMPHIS" -- will take fans to a Ticketmaster site, where they can register for free for seats, between now and Monday, Jan. 15. Those who win tickets for the show will be confirmed on Jan. 18.
Instructions from Ticketmaster offer that, "Tickets are free, non-transferable and must be picked up with a matching ID at the venue on the night of the show. There is a 2 ticket limit per person. Note: These are not guaranteed."
Earlier this week Timberlake scrubbed his social media accounts as a part of a what appeared to be a reset ahead of a new project from the singer. His last album was 2018’s “Man of the Woods.” Timberlake last performed in Memphis at the FedExForum in January 2019.
Timberlake had a fairly quiet 2023, perfoming just twice publicly. According to various reports, he spent much of year in the studio recording new music, including work with his longtime producer Timbaland.
