Justin Timberlake surprises aspiring musicians with generous gifts
Justin Timberlake was on Ellen’s Greatest Night of Giveaways, Thursday night. Timberlake used the opportunity to surprise a student he met while visiting Stax Music Academy in his hometown of Memphis.
Stax Music Academy provides music education, youth development and mentoring for middle and high school students. Justin has long supported Stax Music Academy, recently gifting $200,000 worth of music equipment and pledging $100,000 toward a recent fundraising campaign.
Aspiring music teacher Chris Clark was one of the students Timberlake met while visiting the academy in October. He was so impressed with Clarks ability and aspirations that he invited him onto the show.
Timberlake surprised Clark with a trip to the Grammys in January, as well as a scholarship to Grammy Camp in the summer. The gifts didn’t stop there, as he also gave Clark $50,000 cash.
Since Clark is a musician, he also got to perform Sam and Dave’s “Soul Man” on national television. Clark was joined by some other students from Stax Academy, as well.
Ellen DeGeneres wanted to get in on the action for the final surprise gift, as both her and Timberlake announced a $250,000 donation to the academy.
