Kali Uchis Announces New LP ‘Orquídeas Parte 2’
Kali Uchis will release Orquídeas Parte 2, a follow-up to her album Orquídeas, on Aug. 9. The singer revealed the news in an Instagram Reel, although it’s unclear whether it’s a collection of new songs or remixes of the tracks off Orquídeas, which arrived in January.
The reel is soundtrack by a version of “Young Rich & In Love” remixed by Kaytranada, suggesting the latter. “orquídeas parte 2 next Friday 8/9 ??,” Uchis wrote in the caption. “Young rich & in love – the Kaytranada version.”

Orquídeas saw Uchis collaborating with Peso Pluma, Karol G, City Girls’ JT, and Rauw Alejandro, among others. The singer said she wanted to each track to have its own vibe, telling Rolling Stone, “I feel like every song really is its own era and its own aesthetic.”
When you aren’t just one thing and you are as multidimensional of an artist as I am, I think it’s a lot harder for people to figure out how to sell me as a product,” Uchis told Rolling Stone earlier this year. “But I think they don’t realize that being multidimensional is a lot of different people’s experiences… I’m not going to compromise who I am or what I’m doing or show only just this one tiny piece of myself.”
In March, Uchis’ partner Don Toliver released a video for his song “Deep in the Water,” on which he sings about his promise of love to Uchis and their newborn baby boy. The video spliced clips of the artist in a blue-hued room and Uchis holding their newborn as he sings the chorus: “Deep in the water, far as I can see/Deep in the water, through your pregnancy.”
