Kalki 2898 AD New Release Date Announced

The highly anticipated film Kalki 2898 AD is facing another delay in its release schedule. Initially slated to hit the theatres on May 9, 2024, the makers have pushed it to the end of June this year. This announcement has generated significant buzz, accompanied by the release of a new poster.

Recently, the makers unveiled a glimpse of Kalki 2898 AD, featuring Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama. Reflecting on his experience with the film crew, Bachchan took to his X (formerly Twitter) profile. He wrote, “It’s been an experience for me like no other. The mind to think such a product, the execution the exposure to modern technology and above all the company of colleagues with stratospheric Super star presence.”

In addition to the thespian, the cast includes Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, and others. Kalki 2898 AD spans from the period of the Mahabharata in 3101 BCE to the distant year 2898 AD. It promises a unique blend of ancient mythology and futuristic dystopian society. With a hefty budget of $72.5 million, the film is set to be one of the most expensive productions to date.

Kalki 2898 AD will now release in June

Earlier reports stated that Kalki 2898 AD faced a delay in its release due to the General Elections this year. On April 27, 2024, makers announced that the film would finally hit the theatres on June 27, 2024, with a new poster. In their social media post, they captioned, “All the forces come together for a better tomorrow on ??-??-????.”

Additionally, the new poster features Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan in their respective roles.

Since the release of the new poster, netizens have drawn comparisons between the film and the Hollywood production Dune. Addressing these comparisons, Director Nag Ashwin responded, “Yeah! (Laughed) That is because you see sand. Wherever you see sand, it looks like Dune.”

Ahead of its theatrical release, makers and cast are actively participating in promotional campaigns. With the finalization of the release date, excitement among fans has been reignited, eagerly anticipating the promised cinematic experience.
