When will Kalki 2898 AD’s sequel be released?
The first film in the franchise took five years to release. Thus, fans are anxious about the time it will take for the filmmaker to make its sequel. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Nag Ashwin gave an update on Kalki 2898 AD’s sequel. The director said, “Yes, work is happening on the second one. We had shot portions of it in the earlier schedules when part one was being filmed. We shot for about 20 days. But there’s still a long way to go in terms of planning and thinking.”
Talking about the sequel’s release date, the director revealed that he would not take as much time as he took for Kalki 2898 AD. Ashwin shared, “However, the second part should hopefully take lesser time to complete and release than the first one.”
Further in the interview, the filmmaker opened up about why he brought the story of Kalki 2898 AD to the Indian audience. He added, “I felt it was the right time to tell this story. There is a huge audience in our country- not just in cities, but smaller towns who embrace stories like Marvel and Star Wars. I felt we should explore our homegrown superheroes, it is very Indian.”
