Kamala Harris Was the Epitome of Power in Black High Heels to Accept the 2024 Democratic Presidential Nomination

Kamala Harris is looking to change her title from vice president to president, and she has her wardrobe ready to support her in this mission. For the final day of the 2024 Democratic National Convention, which ran from Aug. 19-22 at Chicago’s United Center, Harris was dressed in a navy blue Chloé suit as she accepted the Democratic Presidential Nomination.

Harris wore a custom-designed suit by Chloé’s creative director, Chemena Kamali, which was made up of a navy wool two-piece blazer and trousers ensemble, and pair the look with a matching bow blouse for a monochromatic effect. The color navy blue is often viewed as authoritative and powerful, fitting the occasion, and she paired the look with a pair of leather black pointed pumps.

The heel measured at around three to four inches high, and carefully peeked through from under the wide leg of her trousers. The heel was slightly taller than the kitten heels she has been wearing recently during political engagements. The black pumps made the look appear more elegant, which was befitting of such a special occasion and moment in the politician’s career.

On the first day of the convention, Harris wore a custom tan pantsuit from Chloé with matching beige leather pumps, a neutral style she often wears for formal occasions.

Like Hillary Clinton before her, the first and only other woman to receive a presidential nomination from either major party, Harris is a champion of the female power suit. Her style includes classic silhouettes like wide-leg dress pants, tapered pants, fitted blazers and high-neck blouses. Naturally, the enduring elegance of a traditional pump fits in well with this aesthetic.

Harris’ fashion sense perhaps first became widely talked about when she showed her love of Converse while campaigning with President Joe Biden in 2020. Four years later and now the Democratic party’s presidential candidate herself, she is still a fan of the Chuck Taylor All Star shoe, having worn a black platform pair ahead of the commencement of the DNC.

A range of sharp styles were on display at the Democratic National Convention this year. Michelle Obama showed off her oration skills in a modern navy Monse outfit which was paired with Jimmy Choo leather mules featuring a kitten heel and corset-inspired lacing on the vamp. Mindy Kaling endorsed Harris in a navy sheath dress from Monique Lhuillier, which was accompanied by the brand’s black Audrey Suede D’Orsay Crystal heels.
