After teasing its debut sneaker collaboration with Nike, Kar L’Art De L’Automobile has announced the project consists of two Nike Air Force 1 Lows that are exclusively for friends and family.
An all black version features a carbon fiber Swoosh, while the other bears a resemblance to chameleon car paint jobs with its dark green modeled after L’Art’s Porsche 968 collaboration from 2021. The all-black pair features a special badge for the automotive lifestyle label on the heel, and the other features the Nike Air logo in green with “L’Art” replacing the word “Air,” as well as an embossed 968 on the lateral toe tip.
What We Originally Reported on September 11, 2024
Kar L’Art De L’Automobile is deepening its Nike relationship with its first sneaker collaboration with the Swoosh.
The automotive lifestyle label teased its Nike sneaker debut on Instagram Tuesday with an image of the insoles and box from the forthcoming collaboration. The former bears the image of L’Art’s Porsche 968 collaboration from 2021, which gave the car a reshaped body for its 30th anniversary, and the vehicle’s green shade matches the dual-logo for the two new collaborators. While no details of what shoe is actually involved can be gleamed from the image, the co-branded box calls out a 10th anniversary.
Kar L’Art De L’Automobile is the clothing label spinoff from Kar L’Art De L’Automobile, a used luxury automotive dealership based in Paris. Named for founder Arthur Kar, Kar launched as a clothing line in 2017 and has occasionally dabbled in sneakers through collaborations with Salomon and Vans. Its most recent sneaker drop was a duo of Salomon sneakers modeled after the legendary Porsche 911 GT1-98 that finished first and second at the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Kar’s first linkup with Nike came this spring by way of Drake’s Nocta line with a run of jackets, hoodies, pants, T-shirts and a hat.
In the year Kar launched, its founder told Highsnobiety: “The brand is the result of over 10 years of influence of the three worlds and industries I have been evolving in. As a car specialist and an active fashion and art enthusiast, I was often wondering how to mix these passions of mine through the creative process. …I think anyone can relate to it, because it’s not just a car on a T-shirt, the products will remind you of your own experience with cars, and every place and emotion related to it. From being taken to school as a kid, on highways, at gas stations, car washes, at the mechanics or even on a race for some of us …that’s what these visuals are.”
No further details for Kar L’Art De L’Automobile’s Nike sneaker have been revealed, but more information should come in the near future. Footwear News will keep you abreast of any updates.
